The Research and Guidance Council of the Exhibition “Park of Scientific Discoveries” has been set up.

The Research and Guidance Council of the Exhibition “Park of Scientific Discoveries” has been set up.

On November 22, 2007, the Research and Guidance Council of the Exhibition “Park of Scientific Discoveries” conducted its first meeting. The Council comprised renowned Russian scientists, teachers, leading experts from various domains of science.

I.K. Lagovsky, Chief Editor of Science & Life Magazine, and V.I. Lisov, First Deputy Director of Moscow Education Department, were elected co-chairs of the Council.

The primary objective of the Council is to provide scientific advice, guidance and expert evaluation of conceptual solutions of the display.

During the discussion, the Council members whole-heartedly supported the proposed concept of the Exhibition in general and made some interesting suggestions in respect of individual sections.

For reference:

By the end of 2008, Pavilion # 20 of the All-Russia Exhibition Center in Moscow will inaugurate the interactive exhibition “Park of Scientific Discoveries” as the first stage of “City of Science, Education and Innovations”. The display will be broken down into individual topical modules: “Health”, “Genetics”, “Water for All”, “Atlas of the Planet”. Awaiting juvenile visitors is the Kids Village section consisting of “Images. Sounds. Light”, “Construction Site”, “Sports”, “Weather Studio”, “TV & Radio Studio”, “Multimedia” and other modules. The total area of the Exhibition will exceed 9 thousand square meters.

Each visitor, whether it is a child or a grownup, a pupil or a teacher, will be able to feel happy and astonished about his/her own scientific “discovery”, experience surprising moments leaving a trace in his/her soul – a recollection, a willingness to go further with a thought that science and technology are not something unattainable. Abroad such “cities of science” have existed for a long time and are quite popular with the public: the Science Museum in London, Exploratorium in the USA, La Villette (City of Sciences and Industry) in France, PASS in Belgium, etc. Now such a popular science center will emerge in Russia, at VVC. The Park of Scientific Discoveries will be financed by the Moscow City Government.
